Cricket Pavilion is located at 2121 N. 83rd Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. Every
year we get the pleasure of working the security for all of the shows at Cricket
Pavilion. It’s a different experience on it’s own, and there’s a strong sense
of teamwork out there. I believe my first shift out there was Warped Tour, and
I got posted inside catering. I tell you what, when you are starving, standing
around food, smelling it and seeing it doesn’t help! My next shift was a KUPD
type of show, where I learned that sunscreen is very important, especially when
you have sunglasses on. I resembled a raccoon later that night.
There is a lot going on with the facility for every show and so teamwork is so essential in that type of environment. We have guards that work in the lawn, at the gates, in the barricade, in the bowl, roaming the plaza doing alcohol control, and running the backstage and VIP areas. Communication is important as such a large facility and we’ve been doing security at this venue for a long time, so we’ve gotten good at it. With all of the dynamics of the large crowds and live music we stay busy, but we always have a good time and want to make sure the public enjoys themselves. That’s what it’s all about—having a good time and a good experience so that patrons want to come back!
If you’ve never been, you should definitely check one of the shows out this summer. They’ve got lots of different artists, from Tim McGraw & Lady Antebellum, to Kings of Leon, and even Rihanna will be there this year. You can check out their available shows by clicking on the logo up top. Don’t forget to check out the VIP options. There is a special VIP area in the East plaza area that allows you cushioned seating, shade, a separate bar, separate bathrooms, and a catering area where you get fed for free!
